Niagara Regional Housing (NRH) Board Announces New Chief Executive Officer

NIAGARA REGION, July 16, 2018 - The Niagara Regional Housing Board has appointed Donna Woiceshyn as the new Chief Executive Officer of Niagara Regional Housing (NRH). Woiceshyn assumed her new responsibilities effective, July 15, 2018.

Donna Woiceshyn has more than 17 years leadership experience with NRH. First as Manager of Shared Financial Services for Niagara Region until 2015 when she was appointed to the position of Manager Housing Programs for NRH. Donna has been acting as Interim CEO giving her the leadership experience to lead the team and the Corporation forward. Donna successfully initiated the New 85 unit Carlton Street apartment build in St. Catharines as well as establishing a New Development Housing Allowance Program for private developers; both which will build much needed capacity in Niagara. "I am very excited to continue to lead a very knowledgeable and hardworking team as well as partnering with a community committed to providing many affordable housing options for Niagara. There are major changes coming in the next few years with the Province's Modernization of Social Housing and I believe that NRH is well prepared to embrace the opportunities and challenges that are coming to move NRH forward providing affordable, suitable, and adequate housing."

NRH Board Chair Henry D'Angela welcomed the new CEO stating, "The demand and complexity for Social Housing has steadily increased since NRH began administering Social Housing on behalf of the Niagara Region in 2002. NRH programs now range from traditional Public Housing (NRH-owned), Non-Profits, Co-operatives, Rent Supplements, temporary Housing Allowances and assistance with homeownership and renovations along with the construction of new developments. In this fast-paced environment, the Board recognized the need for a CEO with demonstrated strategic and leadership skills to guide NRH forward. Donna Woiceshyn was selected for her extensive housing sector experience, her ability to deliver public value in housing services and for her proven leadership in government processes. We look forward to utilizing Donna’s experience, expertise and knowledge of the Niagara Region to lead the NRH team in meeting the goals and objectives of Niagara Regional Housing."

Board Chair D'Angela and the five members of the Search Committee participated in the search process with support from Organization Consulting Limited and received over 50 applications from candidates across Canada.
