NRH Board of Directors Elects 2021 Officers

NIAGARA REGION, January 19, 2021 – The Niagara Regional Housing (NRH) Board of Directors met on Friday, January 15 and elected the following Executive Committee to provide leadership for the Board in 2021.

  • Chair - Mayor Walter Sendzik (Regional Councillor, St. Catharines). Mayor Sendzik is serving his second term on Regional Council in his capacity as mayor of the City of St. Catharines. He joined the NRH Board in 2014 and this will be his third term as Chair.
  • Vice-Chair - Gary Zalepa (Regional Councillor, Niagara-on-the-Lake). Councillor Zalepa is serving his first term on Regional Council and joined the NRH Board in 2018. He held the role of Treasurer through 2019-2020.
  • Secretary - James Hyatt (Community Director, St. Catharines). Mr. Hyatt, a retired military pilot and aviation management consultant, has been on the NRH Board since 2014. He has held both Treasurer and Vice-Chair roles previously.
  • Treasurer - Barbara Butters (Regional Councillor, Port Colborne). Councillor Butters is serving her first term on Regional Council and joined the NRH Board in 2018.

The NRH Board is comprised of five Regional Councillors and four Community Directors. Also on the Board are Betty Ann Baker (Community Director, St. Catharines), Karen Blackley (Community Director, Thorold), Tom Insinna (Regional Councillor, Fort Erie), Betty Lou Souter (Community Director, St. Catharines) and Leanna Villella (Regional Councillor, Welland).
