Canada supports rapid housing projects in Niagara Region

The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, alongside Vance Badawey, Member of Parliament for Niagara Centre, Chris Bittle, Member of Parliament for St. Catharines, Frank Campion, Mayor of the City of Welland and Jim Bradley, Chair of Niagara Region announced $10.5 million to create an estimated 42 new affordable homes for individuals and families in the Niagara Region.

On April 17, 2019, the Province released the Community Housing Renewal Strategy , outlining their plan to stabilize and grow the community housing sector in Ontario.

Affordable Housing Intensification Project Announced in Welland

Niagara Regional Housing (NRH) and the City of Welland have announced the site of NRH’s intensification project on Roach Avenue in Welland. This project will see four aging NRH Public Housing units (two semi-detached homes) replaced with six stacked row houses (12 units).
