Social Housing Improvement Program (SHIP)

As part of the 2016 Social Infrastructure Fund (SIF) program announced in the Federal budget, NRH received $6,079,500 in funding for capital repairs of existing social housing units.

NRH established the Social Housing Improvement Program (SHIP) for the delivery of these funds. The purpose of the SHIP is to:

  • Respond to the urgent capital repair needs of existing social housing stock in the Niagara region
  • Improve energy efficiency in social housing stock
  • Deliver positive impacts to social housing residents at the earliest possible times

To apply, Housing Providers must submit a Business Case for each job/project they wish to complete with SHIP funding. The Business Case must include supporting documentation, e.g. technical reports, quotes/estimates, etc.
